How to Play
Every day, Streaktastic gives you a fresh Sports puzzle (drawing from MLB, NBA, NFL, and NHL trivia) and a fresh Pop Culture puzzle (drawing from TV, Movies, and Music trivia). Within each, you can play three different game modes — Flashback, The Spread, and The Reveal. Everyone playing on a given day gets the exact same puzzle, so you can compare results with friends and family.
🕰️ Flashback
You're shown a real historical event — described without its date — and asked to guess the year it happened. Five events per round.
Scoring isn't all-or-nothing. The closer your guess is to the real year, the more points you earn, up to 100 for an exact match. Miss by a little and you still score well; miss by a lot and you'll see a lower number, down to 0 for a wildly off guess.
One detail worth knowing: the scoring tolerance widens the further back in history an event happened. A six-year miss on something from last decade is judged more strictly than the same six-year miss on something from the 1930s — nobody's expected to have pinpoint recall of a century-old date the way they might a recent one.
Tips
- Anchor on decades first — is this clearly a 1980s event or a 2000s one? — then narrow down.
- Watch for context clues in the wording: technology, team names, or cultural references mentioned can hint at the era.
- When unsure, a guess in the middle of your plausible range scores better on average than an extreme guess.
💰 The Spread
You're given a real statistic — a career total, a single-season record, a chart-topping run, that kind of thing — along with a "line" number. Your job is simple: was the real number over or under that line? Five stats per round, one guess each, 100 points for a correct call and 0 for a miss.
The lines are set close to the real numbers on purpose, so it's a genuine coin-flip-feeling decision rather than an obvious call — and the mix of over/under answers across the whole question bank is deliberately balanced, not tilted toward one side.
Tips
- Think about how "round" the line number is — real record-book numbers are often oddly specific, which can be a subtle hint.
- If a stat sounds like it should be a famous record, lean toward whichever side makes it sound impressive.
🕵️ The Reveal
A mystery person, place, or thing is described through a series of clues, revealed one at a time — starting vague, getting more specific. Guess correctly after the first clue for the full 100 points; each additional clue you need lowers the maximum score you can still earn (100 → 80 → 60 → 40 → 20). Guess wrong or use all five clues without solving it, and you'll see the correct answer either way — this mode always tells you what it was, win or lose.
Tips
- Don't guess on a hunch too early if you're not confident — a wrong guess doesn't cost you a clue, but taking an extra clue to be sure beats being wrong.
- The clue order is intentional: early clues set the category or era, later clues get specific enough to be nearly unmissable.
🔥 Streaks
Each of the six playable combinations — Sports Flashback, Sports Spread, Sports Reveal, Pop Culture Flashback, Pop Culture Spread, and Pop Culture Reveal — tracks its own streak. Play that mode on consecutive days and your streak climbs; miss a day and it resets to zero. Your current streak and your all-time best streak for each mode are both saved and viewable under the 📊 Stats icon.
🏅 Badges
Beyond streaks, there are two families of collectible badges: category badges (like MLB Fanatic or Movie Buff), earned by encountering enough questions tagged to that sport or topic across your plays, and streak-milestone badges (3, 7, 14, 30, and 100-day streaks), earned automatically the moment you hit them. Every badge you've unlocked is a real image you can view full-size and save — check 📊 Stats to see your full collection, locked and unlocked.
🎨 Skins
The 🎨 icon lets you change the site's accent color palette. New palettes unlock as you build longer streaks and share more results — purely cosmetic, no gameplay effect, just a way to show off how consistently you've been playing.
